A bit out of sorts
Posted by oj under Misc, London Life
I don’t know why I get bored so easily these days. Taking one day off work seems to really knock down my work motivation (which admittedly, was never really high to begin with). I find myself unable (and unwilling) to spend the time needed to get things done. Although, now that I think of it, this could be because the people I need to contact are not around, so I can’t really do anything anyway. I often think work is worse when you have nothing or nothing much to do, because you get bored so quickly. If I had tonnes of work to do, well, I wouldn’t have the time to be bored, would I?
So much for work.
Maybe I’m feeling a bit lethargic generally because the weather is crap again. Just when we thought spring was coming, there came an Arctic blast - we were bashed with hailstones yesterday afternoon (and yes, they were painful!), it was blustery and cold this morning, and it even snowed this afternoon. Except of course, this being London, it snowed for all of … oh, five minutes. And of course, as it was cold, but not cold enough, as soon as the snow hit the ground it melted.
This is the thing about London weather - what’s the point of having snow that turns into slush, or snow that melts as soon as it hits ground? Just for once, I’d love to have proper snow, you know, the type that stays on the ground, and pile up. Or how about a blizzard? We’d have complete chaos all over the city (this is the city that seizes up when there’s half an inch of snow on the ground, after all!), which means nothing will work, which means we won’t need to go to work and can then spend the day pelting snowballs at each other. Yeah, that would be cool!
Not that it’ll ever happen I suppose, now that we all know we’re doomed to global warming.
Oh yeah, one other thing - we didn’t get to the finals in the competition. I actually really enjoyed myself (I even smiled whilst dancing for heaven’s sake!), and as my friend and I worked out, the judges preferred those who looked serious and solemn! Hah! What do the judges know! (Not that I’m bitter, obviously
).
The only good thing about today is, by the end of it, it will be four days to my birthday!
