£35,000 not enough?
Posted by oj under Britain
It’s not that I’m anti-Heather Mills or anything like that. Whenever I see or read about her, I try to remind myself that hey, there’s always two sides to every story. Maybe Paul McCartney really is a miser and made her life miserable for the four years that they were married.
However, yesterday evening I saw her on the news after the divorce settlement was reached, and honestly, I found myself thinking what in hell did he see in her?
The thing that really got me was her statement that her daughter would be forced to live in economy whilst her father continued living in first class (well, words to that effect). That made me really cross, because if you don’t know already, Sir Paul will be paying the nanny and the school fees, as well as £35,000 a year for the child.
Now, I know most celebs live in a make-believe, fantasy world, but you know what, some people don’t even make £35,000 a year, and in the real world, when you earn such money, you have to pay all sorts of things out of this money, like taxes, bills, rent/mortgage, transport costs and food, before you even begin to think about spending the money for pleasure.
I mean, the child is four. Presumably she won’t need to pay taxes and bills and so on because that’s what her parents are there for, right? Which means Heather Mills will have almost £3,000 a month to spend on her daughter. Yes, I know I don’t live in celeb-world, but I’d be on my knees thanking heaven and everything else if someone gave me £3,000 tax-and-bill-free for my spending needs every month.
And all that sanctimonious stuff about oh but of course getting £24 million means I can spend more on my charities? Very noble, but I can’t help feeling that was said to make her look good. I’ve no doubt that Miss Mills will spend some of that money on her charities, but why feel the need to tell us that?

Some people are just too greedy. Tsk.
